This is a very lowfi recording of a xerox workcentre 7345 in a very small room being switched on from standby and initializing, including some button presses with beeps, mechanical movement sounds and motors. The bitrate is only 13 kbit/s and the resulting audio quality not very good, but the file size is really small. Maybe audio level needs normalizing, though.

A fusion of an edited new world interactive-the makers of day of infamy-m1919 sfx and my own home-crafted sfx. This is the result, and the sound i used for my doi modification:. Made with audacity. Use however you see fit.

Here are the highlights from a mri machine (a ge signa, i believe). Probably useful for robot sounds. You'll also note the cooling system in there as well. These things dissipate a huge amount of energy and are quite interesting. The actual sounds come from vibration of the coils as the machine runs through it's patterns.

When my band was allowed to record after-hours in an industrial space in west oakland, i took the opportunity to show up early to record some of the machines in action. This is a recording of an industrial embroidery machine as it sews on logos to eight sweatshirts. Unfortunately my recording of the glass etching machine in another part of the building didn't turn out as useful--it sounded pretty crazy. An imaginary steam-powered machine runs up to speed and slows to a halt. Created in flstudio 11 with a commuted synthesis model for emulating engines and other cyclic mechanical sounds, also known as virtualmachine, by rurik leffanta. See http://www. Xoxos. Net/about. Html. Flstudio 3x osc noise was used as a hissing sound similar to venting of high pressure steam. The hiss is granulated to simulate a slight sputtering effect. As the machine tempo increases, lf rumble is introduced to evoke the notion of a rolling load. The rumble dies away as the machine slows down. 100% synthesised sound. No audio sample is present in this recording.

A czech guy named "staney the robot man" who lives in prague build this little synth. It's completely handmade and consists of a bunch of analog circuitry that when powered creates strange oscillations in current. It's also built into a seseame street toy saxophone. This set sounds like a robot talking. If chopped up and sequenced you could do a lot with it.

A "bigmack" switch being operated, giving a distinctive click. This sound is recognisable to users of single message aac communicators. (aac: augmentative & alternative communication). Equipment: zoom h4n, internal mics.
